Asian food gets a bit of a Latin treatment in this snazzy but comfortable space. The menu has a strong Japanese bent, with sushi and sashimi, tempura, and other traditional dishes elegantly presented and layered with complementary flavors. Also among the favorites are the steaks, including free-range Black Angus beef. The sake, beer, and wine selections are well varied, and the tea and tonic bar is fun, too.

    Best in Durango

    To put East by Southwest into perspective, Durango has MANY very nice restaurants...So why do we eat at this one almost every week?? AMAZING food, great atmosphere, attentive and personable staff. Attention to detail. It all adds up to a place we always look forward to, and which never disappoints.

    Great Food! A local favorite!

    I live in Durango and this is by far my favorite place to eat. They have the best sushi I have ever had (Yes, I do travel all over the world). BUT the don't just have great sushi, everything I have had at East by Southwest has been amazing. Try the cheesecake for desert

    Five across the board!

    An amazing selection of highly innovative dishes that are beautifully presented and served in a great, high energy atmosphere that is family friendly. ExSW has the best sushi & sashimi I've had anywhere, but they also offer a fantastic selection of cooked items and non-seafood dishes. Super clean, and one of the best run restaurants I've ever been to - and I used to own one. A must try for anyone visiting or living in Durango. Go once and I bet you'll be hooked!

    Love at first taste!

    I adore this restaurant and eat there frequently. Incredible food and service! For an unprecedented sushi experience, try their unique and delicious specialty rolls. Don't like sushi? Dont worry they have an incredible cooked menu too! A little something for everyone! While you are there, try a pomegranite or peach mojito.
