Max Downtown
Max Downtown Review
With its contemporary design, extensive array of martinis and wines, and sophisticated cuisine, Max Downtown is a favorite with the city's well-heeled and a popular after-work spot. Creative entrées include sesame crusted ahi tuna with yuzu soy sauce, sourdough-crusted New Bedford cod with lobster-potato gnocchi, and a wide range of perfectly prepared steaks with toppings like foie-gras butter and cognac-peppercorn cream. Desserts, such as the chocolate-chip ice cream cake or malted milk ball crème brûlée, are not to be missed. This restaurant is part of a small empire of excellent Hartford-area restaurants that includes Max's Oyster in West Hartford, Max a Mia in Avon, and several others.
