Fodor's Review:
Built in 1881, the Goodwin is an ornate, dark-red structure across the street from the civic center in the heart of the city. Rooms are tastefully appointed with rich wood furnishings, sleigh beds, and marble baths. The hotel's Pierpont's Restaurant is a popular breakfast spot with locals and hotel guests alike.
