Washington, D.C. Restaurants

Komi Review

Johnny Monis, the young, energetic chef-owner of this small, personal restaurant, offers one of the most adventurous dining experiences in the city. The multicourse prix-fixe, which can run up to two dozen small dishes at the chef's discretion, showcases contemporary fare with a distinct Mediterranean influence. Reservations open 30 days in advance—and the longer you wait, the smaller your chance at a coveted table. Star plates include fresh sardines with pickled lemons, suckling pig over apples and bacon with polenta, and mascarpone-filled dates with sea salt. It doesn't come cheap, and don't expect a menu available online, or even after you arrive, but do expect the four-hour ride of your foodie life in Monis's renowned hands.
