Hotel Palomar

Fodor's Review:

DC's buzziest new hotel, the Palomar is winning hearts and minds with space, style, and a pro-pets policy that recently brought an anteater and an orangutan together in the otherwise subdued lobby. Perhaps accordingly, standard rooms here are some of the largest in town. Kimpton's signature animal prints make the scene in tiger-striped robes, crocodile-patterned carpets, and faux-lynx throws; plush purple and fuschia furnishings splash color on muted chocolate-beige rooms. Although bathrooms are surprisingly small, L'Occitane toiletries ease the blow; other up-to-the-minute details include laptop-sized safes and iPod docking stations. Pros: Spacious rooms; outdoor pool. Cons: Smallish baths; busy public areas not cozy for sitting.

  • Hotel Details: 305 rooms, 30 suites
  • In-room: safe, refrigerator, DVD, Internet, Wi-Fi.
  • In-hotel: restaurant, room service, bar, pool, gym, laundry service, parking (paid), some pets allowed, no-smoking rooms.
  • Credit Cards: AE, D, DC, MC, V
  • Metro: Dupont Circle
