Informed by the flavors of Italy, France, Asia, and the Americas, a meal here might start with seared tuna wrapped in potato and progress to a rack of lamb with ratatouille wrapped in eggplant. 701's wine bar offers a blini and caviar sampler, a small-plate menu for grazing and more than 20 wines by the glass. The three-course pretheater dinner ($25.95) is popular, and convenient if you're attending a performance at the Shakespeare, National, Warner, or Ford's theater. A live jazz pianist plays nightly.

Although I had heard good things about this place, the food I ate was not what I had hoped it would be. For the amount of money I paid for dinner, I thought it was a bit bland and nothing special. Dessert was the highlight of my meal here.
