G Street Food
G Street Food Review
Like Washington, D.C.'s layout and architecture, this upscale cafeteria takes a cue from Europe. The cosmopolitan menu echoes the best of the Continent's eclectic café scene; breakfasts range from Italian potato-and-egg panini to Norwegian lox, and lunch ups the ante with a daily sausage selection and a French-inspired "tartine of the day." Asian cuisine gets its due as well, and an Indian curry cauliflower salad packs a flavorful punch greater than its low price tag. Lines here can look oppressive at midday, as government workers come flocking for falafel and fresh-cut fries, but stick around and you'll be rewarded with a midday meal that's smarter, and often more affordable, than the chain spots.
