Light-color wood paneling, gleaming white linen, and stunning black-and-white photographs make Butterfield 9 one of the most handsome restaurants in town. Chef Michael Harr's style of cooking glorifies complexity. The menu changes every two months and has included hits such as the Amish goat, a fillet of ostrich, and rabbit with persimmon and poached salsify. The almond cake with poached pear and other seasonal desserts are well worth a taste.

the room is very attractive and the food good. we had the tasting menu with the wine pairing and it was all well prepared and nicely presented. not the best restaurant in dc, but certainly a place to which i would return. a very nice evening
