DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel, Washington, D.C Review

At this all-suites hotel close to the Kennedy Center and Georgetown, the roomy, one- and two-bedroom units have full kitchens and living-dining areas with desks, dining tables, and sofa beds. The rooftop pool provides a place to relax after summertime sightseeing. You receive chocolate-chip cookies upon arrival, which you can then go sweat off at the hotel's fitness room.

    Disaster while doing good

We purchased a weekend package on a bidding auction website raising money for schools. The GM changed between the purchase date and our planned weekend. Everything was a disaster. First the new GM didn't want to accept the old GM's auction. Then we ran into staff problems over 3 days that just continued. Our room was not cleaned from 9:45 AM to 6:15 PM on a Saturday. When we asked the desk had no answer, but the maid finally admitted that it was a weekend and a holiday (Ramadan). We were charged for the breakfasts that were supposed to be free with the package. The room has doorways that are too small or badly placed, so that its like a Marx Brothers movie going around. It is listed as a suite, but there aren't enough utensils in the kitchen or chairs for the number of people that could stay here. The pool is a postage stamp. The toiletries are nice but there is no shower cap and no liquid soap for a bubble bath, one of the few things I enjoy about going to a hotel. The staff did not know the public transportation in the area (which is fabulous being so close to the Foggy Bottom Metro and several bus lines). One staff member could not understand my question about the cross street of a particular address in Georgetown and kept arguing with me. I finally asked if I could just use her Google maps to look it up. All in all, I would never stay here or recommend this location to anyone.
