Fodor's Review:

Come for affordable, scenic breakfast, lunch, or dinner to this storied 1928 Spanish-style stucco structure on Lake Placid. It began its life as the original Everglades depot, was part of the University of Miami, appeared in the film Winds across the Everglades, and has housed several restaurants. Today's menu has a wide selection of well-prepared seafood -- from shrimp and grouper to frogs' legs and alligator -- and combinations thereof. For big appetites, there are generously portioned entrées of steak and fish specials and combination platters that include warm, fresh-baked biscuits. Weekly specials include a taco bar one day and all-you-can-eat specials others. Ask for a table on the back porch overlooking the lake or a window seat.
