If you're entering the United States by pleasure boat, you must phone U.S. Customs either from a marine phone or upon first arriving ashore. Bring aboard the proper NOAA Nautical Charts before you cast off to explore park waters. The charts are available at many marine stores in South Florida, from the Florida National Parks and Monuments Association's online bookstore (www.nps.gov/ever/fnpma.htm), and at Flamingo Marina in the Everglades. The annual Waterway Guide (Southern Edition) is widely used by boaters. Bookstores all over South Florida sell it, or you can order it from the publisher for $40 plus shipping and handling.
