$$$-$$$$, Coral Gables
Fodor's Review:
It may be built for business, but after a multi-million dollar renovation the Westin is lavish enough to rival many luxury resorts. Fortunately, the renovation left intact the hotel's beautiful neoclassical rotunda, built in 1926 by Coral Gables pioneer George Merrick. Its white marble Corinthian columns and balconies reflect the splendor of that era. On the downside, it's inconvenient that the lobby is on the 2nd floor, accessible via escalator, and you need to use your key card to access the elevators. Still, this is a prime location at the hub of Coral Gables' shopping, dining, and entertainment district. Pros: Central Coral Gables location; dog beds and treats available. Cons: No good room views and not very homey.
