K Restaurant & Wine Bar

$$$-$$$$, Eclectic, Central Orlando

Fodor's Review:

K Restaurant & Wine Bar This dark-wood-paneled spot for locals of College Park -- a quiet and quintessentially residential neighborhood about two miles northeast of downtown -- features upscale eclectic American cuisine in an urbane, intimate setting. For those who love fine dining, this trip is well worth making. Most visitors from out of town don't make it here. The "K" stands for Kevin, as in Kevin Fonzo, the Culinary Institute of America graduate who created the place. Menus change daily, but there are several regular dishes that stand out. Start with the fried green-tomato-and-blue-cheese appetizer. For entrees, check out the grilled venison and Peruvian purple potato fries, or marinated flank steak with grilled Costa Rican hearts of palm. K also has some much-lauded desserts, including sweet potato cheesecake and a chocolate lava cake. There is an extensive wine list, and many selections are available by the glass.
