Pizza Al Fresco Review

The secret-garden setting is the secret to the success of this European-style pizzeria, where you can dine under a canopy of century-old banyans in an intimate courtyard. Specialties are 12-inch hand-tossed brick-oven pizzas with such interesting toppings as prosciutto, arugula, and caviar. There's even a breakfast pizza (part of a small morning menu) and a Nutella dessert pizza. Piping-hot calzones, salads, and baked pastas round out the choices. Next to the patio, look for the grave markers of Addison Mizner's beloved pet monkey, Johnnie Brown, and Rose Sachs's dog, Laddie (she and husband Morton bought Mizner's villa and lived there 47 years). Delivery is available. This bistro is dog-friendly.

    Pizza Al Fresco Review

    What a difference a few months makes. This place used to be fabulous and sadly it is not any longer. New servers are not as efficient, the Pizza is just horrible with crust that now tastes like a thin boboli crust. Even the eggplant appetizer was done poorly. I sent back food and received new food -- still horrible. I hate to give a bad review to someplace I used to enjoy so much. After a few recent visits - My friends and I will return no more, leave it for the tourists.

    This place has it all: friendly, efficient service, lovely setting, GREAT pizza and reasonable prices. Give your wallet a break and treat yourself to lunch or dinner here.
