The Cypress, a Bed & Breakfast Inn

$$$-$$$$, Sarasota

User Rating: ***** 4.6

Fodor's Review:

The only B&B in downtown Sarasota, the inn has a delightful assortment of themed rooms. The Martha Rose Suite has French accessories with a balcony overlooking the gulf, a sitting area, and a separate powder room. French doors in the Mango Suite open onto a garden, and the furnishings include a couch, armchair, and Victorian writing desk. Aptly named Kathryn's Garden Room has a floral feel with wicker furnishings, a sitting area, and views of live oaks and mango trees. The Victorian-style Elizabeth Brittany Suite has an oak high-back bed and tropical sitting room. And the Essie Leigh Key West Room has a front-porch view of the bay, a pewter-and-brass bed, and private entrance. All have private baths. Rates include full breakfast and afternoon hors d'oeuvres and refreshments. Guests under 21 aren't permitted. Pros: friendly staff, convenient to downtown, a five-minute drive from the beaches at Lido Key. Cons: no in-room phones.

The Best Place to Stay in Sarasota

Posted by Angela from Naples, FL on 12/12/05

Vicki, Nina, and Robert make this a true home-away-from-home -- they take such good care of you, you'll never want to leave! The breakfasts are outstanding, the personal service is exceptional, the location is ideal. They've added a fifth room, another 2-room suite, making it a bit easier to enjoy a stay in the height of season. Give them a try; you won't regret it.
