Splash Mountain Review

The second-most-popular thrill ride after Space Mountain, this log-flume water ride was based on animated sequences in Disney's 1946 film Song of the South. Here the Audio-Animatronics creations of Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear, Brer Fox, and a menagerie of other Brer beasts frolic in bright, cartoonlike settings. Settle into the eight-person hollowed-out logs, and the fun begins.

As the boat carries you up the mountain, Brer Rabbit's silhouette hops merrily ahead to the tune of the ride's theme song, "Time to Be Moving Along." Every time some critter makes a grab for the bunny, your log boat drops out of reach. But Brer Fox has been studying his book How to Catch a Rabbit, and our lop-eared friend looks as if he's destined for the pot. Things don't look so good for the flumers, either. You get one heart-stopping pause at the top of the mountain—just long enough to grab the safety bar—and then the boat plummets about five stories at a 45-degree angle into a large, wet briar patch. It's enough to reach speeds of 40 mph—and makes you feel weightless. Clench your teeth and smile: as you begin to drop, a flashbulb pops. Another photographic memento for sale as you "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" your way to the next ride.

You may get wet, so plan accordingly. If you need to use Baby Swap you can take the young ones to a play area in a cave under the ride. This ride isn't appropriate if you're pregnant or have heart, back, or neck problems. For people with disabilities: You must be able to step into the ride vehicle and walk short distances. Service animals aren't permitted. Plan to use Fastpass or ride when the park opens, during meal or parade times.

    Splash Mountain Review

    It isn't Everst or Test Track, but it IS fun! Once you board your logs for this leisurly tour of Criter Country, you enter the wimical world of Brer Rabbit. But, Brer Fox, along with his dopey, and also histerical, sidekick, Brer Bear enter the picture, your trip takes a turn for the worst. The highlight of your trip is in Brer Fox's lair. Your log begins climbing a steep incline guarded by a pair of vultures. Then, it all ends! A 52 foot drop down a waterfall!

    This ride isn't the flashiest, or the fastest, but for what it is, it is pretty damn cool! Once you hit the bottom of the falls, you'll understand why this ride is so legendary!

    Best Ride Ever, We LOVED It!

    This is by far the best ride in all of Disney! My whole family loved it! It was my 10, 5, 3, and husbands favorite. I also enjoyed it but not quite as much as them. When you first see it you think it is just the drop and your down but little do you know there is more. This 11 minute ride has 4 small drops leading to the BIG one. It also tells a story as you go about Brer Rabbit, Bear, Fox and others. I say if you only go on one ride in Disney make this that one GREAT ride!
