The Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

The Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Review

During the Battle of Atlanta, pastor Thomas O'Reilly persuaded Union forces to spare his church and several others around the city. That 1848 structure was then torn down to make room for this much grander building, whose cornerstone was laid in 1869. The church was nearly lost to fire in 1982 but has been exquisitely restored. To view the church, contact the rectory for an appointment.
