Squares, Historic District
Fodor's Review:
When Savannah was a walled city (1757-90), Bethesda Gate (one of six) was at this location. The square, which was laid out in 1799, was named "Columbia," the female personification of the U.S. Liberty Square, now lost to urban sprawl, was the only other square named in honor of the United States and the concept of freedom that stoked the fires of the American Revolution. Davenport House and Kehoe House are on Columbia Square.
