Fodor's Review:

Sicilian Pino Venetico turned this former department store into his dream restaurant -- a bistro-style place gleaming with steel, glass, and tile. The menu changes frequently, but fresh pasta dishes are a constant, and excellent desserts include a superior tiramisu. The signature filet mignon with melted gorgonzola is superb. As the evening progresses -- particularly on weekends when live jazz ensembles start up around 10 PM -- the scene gets ever more lively and hip. A lower level caters to private parties; the upper level, separate from the restaurant, is a hip-hop club.

Best Italian in Savannah!!!

Where do I begin?! The second we entered this restaurant we were pleased all around, from the charming hostess to the windows everywhere! The aroma made my mouth water before I even sat down... the menu was quite extensive and offered something for everyone. The presentation of our food was beautiful and everything tasted wonderful. The waitress was a lot of fun and quite efficient! Overall, it was a perfect evening!

Not as usual!

I have been a fan of this place for years, and one of the best things was that it was always exactly what I expected. Their gorgonzola steak was to die for. Last time, however, was a disappointment. Service was ok, but it usually is a bit more polished. We never got to hear about the specials, but it was ok because I knew what I wanted before I set foot in the restaurant (not sure about the other two with me). I got a hot wine glass to start with...good think we ordered red. The appetizer had too little mushrooms (button, at that, instead of the promised trio of oyster, shiitake, and crimini) and too much polenta. My boyfriend got the wrong appetizer (and we paid for the wrong one because he didn't feel like dealing with it because of two dollar difference. The waiter never as much as apologized for what was clearly his mistake as it was on the bill). I was willing to overlook everything because the fillet would make up for it! Alas...Instead of the usual rich port wine reduction, it felt like the steak was floating in some kind of gravy. The steak itself was cooked perfectly, as always. Usually, the gorgonzola cheese is gently melted over it, but last week, I got a fat pancake of cheese on top of the steak, and it didn't even feel that it was warmed up let alone melted. I had this meal at least ten times before since I got it every time we came, but this time was so disappointing, I was compelled to write this well, always a first!). I just hope it was a one-time glitch.

I don' t get it...

This has to be the most over rated restaurant in Savannah. The food is just so so and while I like the atmosphere/setting, the service is atrocious and value zip... I avoid this place and unless I have a company event, will not spend a penny here...
