Hale Hoonanea

$, Kohala Coast

Fodor's Review:

The Hawaiian translation of this comfortable home's name is "House of Relaxation." It sits on 3 acres in the Kohala Estates hills, above the ocean. From here you can watch the sun rise over Mauna Kea and set over the Pacific, and view the sparkling beauty of Hawaii's night sky. It's minutes away from dining and shopping at Waimea and the attractions of the Kohala Coast. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, if not terribly beautiful; the views and grounds make up for what the rooms lack, as does the price in this neck of the woods (less than half the nightly rate of the Kohala Coast resorts). Continental breakfast is included. There's a two-night minimum if you book less than a week in advance; a $25 fee applies to single-night bookings made within seven days of arrival.
