Gordon and Joann Morse, along with their daughter Kii, opened their historic home and 7-acre botanical estate to visitors in 1985. The oldest in Volcano, it was built in 1886 by the Lyman missionary family. Three rooms, sharing two baths, are in the main house. Scattered around the area are three garden apartments and five fully equipped guesthouses. You won't start the day hungry after a deluxe all-you-can-eat breakfast.

The gardens are beautiful, the location can't be beat, and the hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. The room we stayed in, however, was a little shabby. To give you an idea, it had a rather noisy humidifier that we had to empty ourselves a couple of times. Not really what I expect when I'm staying in a hotel.
