Although it has won awards for preserving its unique history (the grounds include a heiau, a sacred fishpond, and a replica of the summer home of King David Kalakaua), the Outrigger Keauhou Beach Resort is not doing such a hot job at preserving the guest accommodations. That said, if you can find a good rate, this is still a decent place to stay, mainly for its proximity to Kahaluu, one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island, and its surprisingly good restaurant.
