Fodor's Review:

A three-story volcano, backlighted in a faux eruption, crawls up the side of this hotel opposite Kuhio Beach and near Kapiolani Park. Rooms are hip Hawaiiana, in colors ranging from neon pineapple yellow to hot lava tropical print red. The retro version of '60s island life continues with little touches like hand-painted bamboo curtains on the closets and surfboards used as entry signs. The third-floor pool deck is where all the action takes place. In the early mornings, there's an international food court where guests can choose complimentary breakfast munchies to pack in a takeout cooler bag. In the evenings, the poolside bar breaks out with Hawaiian music that ranges from traditional to Jawaiian (Hawaiian sound with a reggae beat). There's also a Cold Stone Creamery and a Wolfgang Puck's Express, both on the street level. At this writing, new owners were planning additional public-area renovations.

Great view, great background music. Great stay.

My wife and I stayed here for one week and we absolutely loved our stay. The room was big enough for 2 people, and our view was magnificent. There were many lazy days we hung out our the lanai, usually early morning or late evening. Evenings had a nice trio band with slack guitars that sang in harmony at the tiki bar which was pretty soft which put us either to sleep or made us more relaxed as we heard the waves crash against the beach. We had the 14th floor, the elevator was not really a problem but the keycard to go up on it was kind of slow, but is to be expected on a 25 story hotel. The room was nice and all the employees were very friendly. Good location too. I highly recommend the ocean-front view.
