Southern food is hard to come by in Hawaii, so this eatery and its Pearl City cousin are always crowded with military families and other expats from below the Mason-Dixon line hungry for hush puppies, grits, barbecue (pulled or on the bone, in different styles), and Dixie beer. The odd custom of yelling out the names of certain specials, and clanging a bell to herald their arrival, means the place is loud. But it's also family-friendly with a sand box for the kids.
