Civic Opera House
Civic Opera House Review
The handsome home of the Lyric Opera of Chicago is grand indeed, with pink-and-gray Tennessee-marble floors, pillars with carved capitals, crystal chandeliers, and a sweeping staircase to the second floor. Designed by Graham, Anderson, Probst & White, the second-largest opera house in North America combines lavish Art Deco details with Art Nouveau touches. And the show goes on, with the Lyric Opera performing regularly on the great stage within. Check with the Opera House about tours, which are given a few times a year.
