National Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame

National Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame Review

The NIASHF was founded by George Randazzo in 1978 to honor Italian-American athletes. Among the first to be honored was baseball player Joe DiMaggio. A sample of the other inductees include Rocky Marciano, Yogi Berra, Mary Lou Retton, and Phil Rizzuto. First housed in Elmwood Park, then Arlington Heights, the Hall of Fame came to Little Italy in 1994 with the help of the CEO of the Phoenix Suns, Chicago native Jerry Colangelo. If you are interested in relics like Rocky Marciano's first heavyweight championship belt, the last coat worn by Vince Lombardi as the legendary Green Bay Packers coach, or Mario Andretti's Indy 500 race car, this is your kind of place.
