One of only two campgrounds located inside inland Acadia National Park, Blackwoods is open throughout the year (though restrictions apply for winter camping; call ahead for details). Reservations are handled by the National Recreation Reservation Service 877/444-6777, not by the park. Reservations for high season (May-Oct.) can be made up to six months in advance. During the off-season, a limited number of campsites are available for primitive camping, and a camping permit must be obtained from the park headquarters. Rates drop by 50% for the shoulder season (April and November).
