Nubble Light

Nubble Light Review

On a small island just off the tip of the cape jutting dramatically into the Atlantic Ocean between Long Sands Beach and Short Sands Beach is one of the most photographed lighthouses on the globe. Direct access is prohibited, but the small Sohier Park right across from the light has parking, historical placards, benches, and an information center, open in peak season, that shares the 1879 light's history. The light is at the tip of the geographical Cape Neddick, and that is the light's official name, but it's mostly known as Nubble Light or The Nub. Cape Neddick is also the name of the community at the north end of York, on the opposite side of York Beach from the light. Ask a local where Cape Neddick is and they will likely send you there.
