Riverside Inn & Restaurant

Riverside Inn & Restaurant Review

A bright yellow exterior invites a stop at this delightful restaurant in a former sea captain's home perched on the bank of the Machias River, as are the restaurant's vegetable and herb gardens. Ask for a table in the intimate sunroom, which has water views and opens to the other dining room. You can enjoy a drink and snacks like fruit hummus and chips on the deck. The chef-owner brings a special flair to traditional dishes, such as pork served with a pistachio crust. His signature dish is salmon stuffed with crabmeat and shrimp. In summer months the menu includes dressed-up dinner salads—try pairing one with standout appetizers like hake cakes and red-tuna wontons. Also an inn (open daily except in early winter) with Victorian touches, Riverside has two guest rooms in the main house and two suites in the coach house.
