  The first time I visited Digiovanni’s, about five years ago, I promised I would never return. It was that bad. Unfortunately, I broke my promise and returned after I read that there was a new owner. After all, a good Italian meal with a beautiful view of the river really appeals to me. Forget it! If a place can get any worse, Degiovanni’s has succeeded. One of my previous complaints was the service. True to form, in a completely empty dining room, the hostess refused to seat my friend and me at a table with four chairs since they were all “reserved”. OK, so we were relegated to a really small table for two in a far corner to make room for the crowd. I can live with that. The server, not the most pleasant person in the world, didn’t inform us of the specials, as I found out later. I ordered the “famous” lasagna, and, my friend ordered clams and linguini. The lasagna was so stiff, it had to be cut with a knife. It was literally like chewing on glue between cardboard noodles. The sauce was so greasy, that there was a yellow ring around the tomato sauce at the bottom of the plate. My friend’s clams and linguini looked really pale and very unappetizing, which was about his assessment on taste as well. If you actually think the food at this restaurant is quality Italian, you have no idea what Italian food is. Just enjoy the view, but don’t order a thing. This place is terrible! By the way, when we left, the dining room was still empty.
