Planning Your Time

Considering there are eight counties comprising Maryland's Eastern Shore, planning a circuitous, nonrepetitive route can be difficult. Most travelers follow the county roads from small town to town along the Chesapeake Bay. The north-south orientation of the region, bridges and ferries, narrow roads, and small towns require getting off the highway and slowing down. The Bay's enigmatic islands are easy day trips, but an overnight on one of them means planning within the limited schedules of the ferries that serve them.
