Overview in Berkshires

Overview

The most practical way to get around western Massachusetts is by car, which you really need to move easily among attractions, explore different towns, get from where you're staying to restaurants and shops. In rural areas, outside all but a few small cities or larger towns in the region, a car is an absolute necessity. With several regional airports served by major airlines situated throughout the area, as well as train and bus service from major nearby cities, you can generally count on traveling to the Berkshires by plane, train, or bus and then renting a car once you arrive.
