Ten Tables Review

Jamaica Plain's postage-stamp-size, candlelight boîte (there's a sister restaurant in Cambridge) is an enchanting mix of Gallic elegance and chummy neighborhood revelry. So, too, the food. Simple but high-quality dishes such as Moroccan-spiced swordfish and Sicilian-style fish stew—followed by a carefully chosen "one perfect cheese" plate—seamlessly seal the deal. The $42 tasting menu ($32 if you're a vegetarian) makes ordering easy. Just be prepared to wait it out for a table, or reserve weeks in advance. Make your reservation online, as phones are generally staffed by a recording. The newly expanded space, which created a stylish but laid-back bar, is warmly appointed with reclaimed wood and exposed brick.

    Wonderful place

A terrifically excellent fine dining spot, the best Jamaica Plain has to offer, with surprisingly reasonable prices given the quality and ambition of the cooking. Tiny if appealing space, though getting to the bathroom can be an adventure. Good service too. An absolute must.
