If you're coming to Boston by car, get ready for a shock: the parking here is cheap -- $14 per day -- and easy. (Most hotels charge around $40 a day.) The convenient location, near Prudential Center, Symphony Hall, and the Christian Science Center, and reasonable rates enable this motel-style property to hold its own against its large, expensive neighbors. If it's been a while since you visited, you'll be surprised to discover that the '60s rec-room look of the place has been updated with new wallpaper, carpet, and furnishings. High-speed Internet is available in each guest room for a small fee. The Midtown is owned by the Christian Science Church, whose visitors wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Pros: Good value for the money, friendly staff, cheap parking. Cons: Uninviting pool area, no restaurant on-site.
