Just off the Southeast Expressway, this may be a convenient option if you're in town for business and don't need the ambience (or price tag) of downtown digs. Lower floors overlook a car wash and Dorchester's triple-deckers, but sixth-floor suites have views of the Boston skyline. Recently refurbished guest rooms are decorated in navy and taupe with Danish maple furnishings and cool chrome lamps. It's a five-minute walk to public transportation into the city; shuttles to the airport, Faneuil Hall, Downtown, and the Hynes Convention Center are free. Pros: Price is right, lobby is comfy place to hang out and has free Internet access. Cons: Some rooms have crummy industrial views, not the best area in town, have to reserve the shuttle to Downtown or walk to the T.
