Doubletree Guest Suites

Fodor's Review:

The best things about this place: the very excellent, on-site Sculler's Jazz Club, one of the best places in town to catch a national act, and the extra-spacious two-room suites that cost no more than a single room elsewhere. The worst thing: it's a long walk to the subway and not really within walking distance of anywhere you want to go. A courtesy shuttle van is offered, but requires a bit of planning on your part. Each unit has a living room (with refrigerator and sofa bed), a bedroom with a king-size bed or two oversize twin beds, and a bathroom with a phone. Most suites have views of the Charles River or the Cambridge or Boston skyline -- along with the traffic skirting Storrow Drive. Pros: After listening to top-notch jazz acts, your room is steps away; value-packed dinner, jazz, and room packages. Cons: You'll spend time driving or shuttling if you stay here, you have to book the hotel shuttle in advance.
