Boston Center for the Arts houses more than a dozen quirky, low-budget troupes in six performance areas, including the 300-seat Stanford Calderwood Pavilion, two black box theaters, and the massive Cyclorama, built to hold a 360-degree mural of the Battle of Gettysburg (the painting is now in a building at the battlefield). The experimental Pilgrim Theater, multiracial Company One, gay/lesbian Theatre Offensive, Irish-American Súgan Theatre troupe, and contemporary SpeakEasy Stage Company put on shows here year-round.
