Made up of two separate buildings on a quiet, narrow street just a block from downtown, this is an inn of simple, refined luxury. Rooms are painted in soothing neutral tones, floors are bare wood, and fresh flowers are placed atop every stainless-steel wet bar; the bathrooms have marble tile and hair dryers. Most rooms have private entrances and fireplaces; some have skylights and private balconies with rooftop and water views. When you're ready to turn in, indulge in the nightly turndown service. There are also three very large and cushy penthouse suites. The management is environmentally conscious, using mostly "green" products and practices. Pros: Large and in some cases huge rooms, immaculate and luxurious, an environmentally conscious property. Cons: Among the highest rates in town, water views are limited or nonexistent from many rooms, significant minimum-stay requirements in summer.
