In a rambling, gray clapboard house just off U.S. 6 on the main road into Wellfleet village, the Wicked Oyster serves up the most innovative fare in Wellfleet. Try the rosemary-and-scallion-crusted half rack of lamb over roasted-shallot-and-garlic potato salad, or the local mussels in tomato broth with smoky bacon, cilantro, jalapeño, and lime. Oyster stew and the Harry's Bar open-face burger (with caramelized onions, fresh mozzarella, and Worcestershire mayonnaise) are among the top lunch dishes. Breakfast is a favorite here -- try the smoked salmon Benedict. There's also an outstanding wine list. Live music is offered many nights. Note that a new chef took over in 2007.
