The rooms in this elegant but reasonably priced art-inspired inn are named after the greats -- Rembrandt, Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh -- and are warmly appointed with brass beds and rich fabrics. Several of these tall-windowed rooms have partial views of the bay, and all receive plenty of light. The building is a graceful old Victorian surrounded by carefully maintained gardens and brick patios. Rooms on the upper floors are compact and share bathrooms, but they're also very low priced. Set back from the bustle, it's just a quick walk from the center of town. Helpful owners Jim Rizzo and Dave McGlothlin often throw guest barbecues on Sunday. Pros: Excellent value, steps from East End shopping and dining, service is extremely friendly and professional. Cons: Least expensive rooms share a bath, some units are very cozy, 3rd-floor rooms are a climb.
