Chilmark Tavern

Chilmark Tavern Review

It's all fresh and crisp inside this homey tavern, with white linen tablecloths covered in brown butcher paper, and when the sun sets and the candles are lit, it's a lovely spot for dinner. Arrive at 4 for the daily raw bar happy hour (in summer); another great starter is the house-made warm ricotta with olive oil, herbs, and grilled bread. Favorites for dinner include the jumbo prawns with Anson Mills grits, chorizo, and garlic spinach; or the 16-ounce porcini-rubbed NY sirloin with a cabernet sauce. It's a busy and lively place; regulars have their own personal liquor lockers for storing their dinner spirits, since Chilmark is a dry town. A special perk is the free Menemsha Harbor pickup—come by boat and they'll get you here and back to the pier.
