This replica 1874 Life Saving Service showcases the island's maritime history—including the stories of hundreds of lives saved in an era when a foundering ship nearly always meant certain death. The collection includes original rescue equipment and boats, artifacts recovered from the Andrea Doria wreck, and photos and accounts of daring rescues.
