James Beard Foundation Award-winning chef Joachim Splichal and his wife and partner Christine have duplicated their acclaimed Los Angeles Pinot restaurant -- an urban-casual bistro with unpretentious Franco-Californian cuisine. The storefront façade, imported from France, allows passersby to glimpse diners at their tables and cooks at work. Seafood is king here, and selections include oysters on the half shell (imported from wherever they are the freshest), scallop tartare, chilled lobster, and Atlantic salmon with horseradish-potato gratin. At lunch, don't miss the apricot brandy-glazed pulled pork sandwich with garlic fries. Pinot serves very good breakfasts, too.
