Fodor's Review:

Part of the Hyatt chain before Loews took over late in 2006, this lavish resort on the shores of Lake Las Vegas has plush, richly appointed rooms; arched windows offer sweeping views of the glittering lake and desert. There's even a small beach where soft, white sand is trucked in every summer. The meager casino seems like it was added to appease guests who expect to find one in a Nevada hotel.

  • In-hotel: 4 restaurants, golf courses, room service, bars, children's programs (ages 3-12), pools, gym, spa, laundry service, no-smoking rooms.

Perfect for us

My wife and I stayed at the Loew's Resort for a week in early summer 2008. We enjoyed the fact we were close enough to Vegas to see what we wanted to see, but far enough away to still relax in relative quiet. We are not gamblers, so we didn't care at all about the casino. We did, however, appreciate the Mediterranean decor and found the prices on food and amenities reasonable. The service was great and the advice of the staff quite helpful in making the most of our stay. After visiting several of the best known hotels on the Strip, we were quite thankful we were staying at Loew's. We would definitely stay there again.
