With so many dowdy motels in southwestern New Hampshire, it's a pleasure to find one as bright and clean as the Jack Daniels, just ½ mi north of downtown Peterborough. The rooms are large and furnished with attractive reproduction antiques. Try to get one of two rooms looking out on the Contoocook River; otherwise, second-floor rooms have chairs on the hallway overlooking the river.
