The Centennial Review

This is the most modern hotel in New Hampshire, and it's home to Granite, the state's most contemporary restaurant ($$) and bar, making it a draw for the state's politicians and those doing business here. The modernity is unexpected, as this imposing brick-and-stone building was constructed in 1892 for widows of Civil War veterans, but the interior was renovated head-to-toe. Boutique furniture and contemporary art immediately set the tone in the lobby. Rooms have luxury linens, sleek carpet and furniture, and flat-screen TVs. Bathrooms have stone floors, granite countertops, and stand-alone showers. It's the state's first foray into a hotel with high-end design, and it's a huge success.
