Brighton Beach Avenue Review

The shops, bakeries, markets, and restaurants along Brighton Beach Avenue, the neighborhood's main artery, cater primarily to the neighborhood's Russian community but shopping along here is a primary reason to visit. This is the place to find knishes with every filling imaginable, borscht, blinis (small crepes or pancakes), fruit and veggies, Russian liquor, and cups of dark-roast coffee, plus caviar at prices that can put Manhattan purveyors to shame. Hurricane Sandy ravaged many restaurants and storefronts here in October 2012, but true to the neighborhood's toughness, business has slowly resumed.
