What's a college burger bar, done up in particleboard and rec-room decor straight out of a Happy Days episode, doing hidden inside a five-star Midtown hotel? This tongue-in-cheek lunch spot, hidden behind a heavy red velvet curtain in the Parker Meridien hotel, does such boisterous midweek business that lines often snake through the lobby (which means you're best off coming at noon or earlier). Stepping behind the curtain, you can find baseball cap-wearing, grease-spattered cooks dispensing paper-wrapped cheeseburgers and crisp, thin fries. Forget Kobe beef or foie gras—these burgers are straightforward, cheap, and delicious.

    Burger Joint Review

    Even knowing where the Burger Join is located isn't enough; I alsmost walked out of the hotel lobby figuring it must have been closed down, or I was in the wrong place. Look for a tiny neon hamburger to the right of the check-in desk and walk down the short dark hallway to find it.

    Burger Joint Review

    I felt the burger, at $7.50, was much too expensive for what it was, BUT it was good, and you pay for the ambiance, which is TOTALLY cool. :-) Worth a trip for the fun of finding this secret joint, but maybe just view as a destination and save your money for a more unique dinner.

    Really Good Burgers, Pretty Good Prices

    Perhaps the best thing about the Burger Joint is knowing that you are in the know for a hidden gem (inside the lobby of the Parker Meridien Hotel).

    The prices have gone up, but there are not very many deals in Midtown that can match the Burger Joint.
