This 20-story building built in 1931 is in historic Tudor City, a stone's throw from the United Nations and Grand Central Terminal. Interior spaces are classic and unassuming, with marble floors, handmade carpets, and hardwood reproduction furniture upholstered in brocades and velvets. The traditional, well-kept rooms all come with CD players, irons and ironing boards, and coffeemakers.

Older Hotel on the East Side

I believe this hotel is now called The Tudor. It is very close to the United Nations and is frequented by individuals doing business there. The room with 2 double beds was fairly generous as was the closet space (compared to other New York hotels. I didn't like the location.

We always ate a light lunch after the wonderful buffet breakfast--$20 in a newly decorated restaurant, sophisticated in browns and blues. Soft mattress, nicely appointed bath with marble sink, tiled floors, plenty of hot water, and a window which slid open providing both natural light and fresh air. Great doormen who quickly secured taxis. Neat atmosphere at Tudor City--overlooked castellated turrets and towers of a residential area complete with two parks. Within walking distance of Grand Central Terminal, UN, Chrysler Building, and New York City Public Library. Friendly staff. One of the few NY hotels we found which would allow three to a room. Would gladly return.
