Downtown

Portland has one of the most attractive, inviting downtown centers in the United States. It's clean, compact, and filled with parks, plazas, and fountains. Architecture fans find plenty to admire in its mix of old and new. Hotels, shops, museums, restaurants, and entertainment can all be found here, and much of the downtown area is part of the TriMet transit system's Fareless Square, within which you can ride the light rail or the Portland Streetcar for free.
